Erasmus+ Youth Exchange

Elementary

Exploring Logical Evidence, Measuring Environmental Narratives, and Testing Actions Rigorously for Youth

About the Project

The ELEMENTARY project brought together young people from Romania, Serbia, Greece, Slovakia, Hungary, and Türkiye to explore the science behind global warming and climate change. The initiative focused on understanding both the causes and the consequences of climate change, linking scientific knowledge with its effects on daily life and society. Participants examined global responses such as the Paris Agreement and discussed how international cooperation can influence real change.

The program combined interactive workshops, discussions, and experiential learning sessions, allowing participants to connect theory with action. They reflected on how personal and collective choices shape environmental outcomes and developed critical thinking skills to identify effective climate solutions.

More than a learning experience, ELEMENTARY became a platform for collaboration among European youth organizations. Together, participants exchanged perspectives, built new partnerships, and envisioned a fair and sustainable future. The project encouraged young people not only to understand the climate crisis but also to see themselves as active contributors to long-term environmental transformation.

Our aims

Understanding Climate Science

Equip participants with a fundamental understanding of climate change, including the physical science behind global warming and its observed impacts on natural systems.

Exploring Global Climate Agreements

Develop participants’ knowledge on the role of international agreements like the Paris Agreement and the various strategies for climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience in different sectors and regions.

Inspiring Climate Action and Responsibility

Empower participants to take personal responsibility for reducing their carbon footprint while exploring how coordinated efforts across society can drive sustainable development and address climate challenges.

Learning Outcomes

Understanding the Science of Climate Change

Participants built a solid understanding of the science behind global warming, examining its causes and effects on natural systems across the globe. Through the analysis of real-world data and examples, they developed a clearer awareness of how climate change shapes our environment and why coordinated, urgent action is needed.

Exploring Global Agreements and Strategies

The program highlighted the role of international efforts like the Paris Agreement and other policies shaping climate action. Participants learned how different sectors and regions approach climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience, giving them a broader perspective on the collective strategies required to tackle this global challenge.

Encouraging Personal and Collective Responsibility

Finally, the program empowered participants to take action in their own lives, whether by reducing their carbon footprints or inspiring others to join the fight against climate change. Through workshops and discussions, they explored how coordinated efforts across society can help drive sustainable development and build a better future for all.

Project results

As part of the program, participants collaborated in international teams to create six short videos, each addressing a different dimension of climate change — from its effects on the environment to practical and innovative solutions. Together, the videos capture the project’s collective learning journey and shared vision for climate action and reflect participant’s creativity, teamwork, and genuine to environmental awareness..

A glimpse into the project

At the heart of this project were the people, the connections built, the teamwork experienced, and the memorable moments shared. We hope these photos convey the energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm that defined the ELEMENTARY Youth Exchange and made it such a breautiful experience.

Their words, to the world

The participants didn’t keep this experience to themselves — they shared what they learned with others. Through discussions, creative initiatives, and personal reflections, they passed on their knowledge about climate change, environmental responsibility, and the value of collaboration to friends, families, and local communities.

This was my first Erasmus+ project and it was so much better than I expected. I learned a lot, made some amazing memories and now I’m super motivated to try new opportunities like this.

I’ve joined other environmental projects before, but this one was different because it focused on science. Sometimes it was a bit difficult to understand everything, but the sessions were super interesting and I learned a lot.

I really appreciated that the project didn’t avoid the complicated stuff, even though I know not everyone agrees with me. We learned about sustainability science and even though it wasn’t always easy to follow, it made me think more deeply about the environment. It felt good to actually learn something new.

I didn’t enjoy the science part so much, but I loved the project! What I loved the most was learning about other cultures, try traditional dances and seeing how is like to live in another country. I learned how to express myself better and I made a lot of friends. One of the best experiences of my life.
Honestly, the whole experience was awesome. I learned a lot, made great memories and had so much fun.
