🌍 About the project
GREEN PHOTO
Showcasing the fusion of art, ecology, and social impact, the Green Photo course offered youth workers a unique platform to transform recycled materials into striking photographic art. This brief overview introduces the project's journey, from innovative workshops to a final digital exhibition, showcasing how creativity can drive positive change in communities.
In the recent completion of the Green Photo course, an innovative blend of environmental consciousness and photographic artistry was introduced to 30 youth workers over eight days. This initiative, aimed at utilizing alternative photography for social change, saw participants transforming everyday waste into functional photo cameras, thus combining ecological practices with creativity. The journey was rich with learning and experimentation, encompassing the construction of pinhole cameras from recycled materials and the exploration of the cyanotype printing process.
The course also ventured beyond the confines of traditional workshops, incorporating outdoor tasks such as photo quests in Kraków to imbue a social dimension to the participants’ learning experience. These activities promoted a communal spirit and teamwork, essential components in the realm of youth work. As the program unfolded, participants were tasked with devising workshops for their home communities, aiming to disseminate the innovative methods learned to a broader audience of 100-150 youths. This aspect of the project underscores the emphasis on active participation and the spreading of knowledge and skills beyond the initial group of participants.
Highlighting the project’s outcomes, a digital exhibition was curated to showcase the participants’ artwork, a testament to the skills acquired and the creative visions developed during the course. This exhibition served as a culmination of the participants’ efforts and also as a public platform for advocating the project’s core values of creativity, ecological awareness, and social engagement.
The Green Photo project stands as an example of how creativity can intersect with social and environmental objectives.
