The European project SEED2STEM – Planting the Future of Education started from this change in perspective: agriculture can become more attractive for young people when it is presented through modern tools and practical activities.
After 32 months of work, the project leaves behind educational resources that connect agriculture, technology and applied learning. Implemented through the Erasmus+ programme, coordinated by the Association for Sustainable Development Pozitiva Samobor from Croatia, the project brought together organisations and institutions from Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria and Türkiye.
SEED2STEM started from a clear need: young people need contexts where STEM is not only theory, while agriculture needs people who understand technology, sustainability and practical solutions. The project connected these fields through educational materials that can be used by youth workers, educators, organisations and young people interested in agriculture, programming, IoT and practical learning methods.
What it meant to us?
For ARYAS, involvement in the project was a natural continuation of our work in youth education, sustainability and applied learning. As the Romanian partner, we contributed to the development and testing of the resources, hosted international activities and worked directly with young people and youth workers to see whether the materials were clear, accessible and useful in real educational activities.
What were the results?
One of the central results of the project is the AGRO-STEM platform, available here. The platform works as a digital learning space, with resources that connect STEM concepts with agriculture and practical examples. It includes interactive modules on programming, digital systems and IoT applications, using methods such as storytelling, gamified activities and scenario-based exercises.
Another important result is the AGRO-STEM curriculum, created to support youth workers in organising activities through which young people can better understand the connection between technology and agriculture. The curriculum includes programming elements, practical projects, examples of technology used in agriculture and activities that encourage young people to test, build and think of solutions.
The project also developed an IoT curriculum, focused on the use of Internet of Things technologies in agriculture and environmental monitoring. Through this material, young people can understand how data, sensors and digital systems can be used to observe and manage the conditions in which plants grow.
SEED2STEM also developed two AGRO-STEM educational games: an interactive console-based game and an educational board game. Both place young people in the role of farmers who have to make decisions about planting, growing and harvesting crops, while taking into account weather conditions, limited resources and unexpected events. Through these games, participants can better understand concepts such as agricultural planning, the use of technology, adaptation to changing conditions and decision-making in agriculture. The interactive console-based game also includes a technical component, using electronic elements, displays, interactive controls and microcontrollers, bringing young people closer to programming, hardware and smart agriculture.
SEED2STEM leaves behind a set of free resources that can be used further in local activities, workshops, educational programmes and youth projects. For ARYAS, the project was an opportunity to bring young people closer to agriculture, the environment and technology through tools that make learning clearer and more attractive. The idea was not only to talk about STEM or agriculture, but to develop digital resources and practical activities that help young people understand these fields without seeing them as difficult, distant or boring.

Digital Youth Work in Practice: ARYAS at Digital Youth Work Voyage
Between 8 and 10 June 2026, ARYAS participated in Digital Youth Work Voyage, an Erasmus+ KA1 partnership-building activity hosted by Pozitiva Samobor in Croatia. SEED2STEM in Action: Testing the AGRO STEM Game with Children in Albeștii de Argeș
As part of the Erasmus+ project SEED2STEM, we organised a local testing session of the AGRO STEM game to observe how children interact with the prototype and what they take away from the experience.

The Experience – what we did and What we learned?
The Romanian team, Ștefan, Daniela, and Cătălina, returned from the Erasmus+ training course “The Experience” in Ogulin, Croatia, with a clearer, more structured way of working with young people and youth workers.
